caprivoyant's review
In stark contrast to all the books I read in July that had compassionate and thoughtful disability rep... I start a book tonight and within 5 pages, I see a main character faking a headache (even going so far as to say she could easily see it turning into a migraine soon) to get out of something she didn't want to do.
I think I'm supposed to be sympathetic to this character at this point in the novel? But now my first impression is that she's untrustworthy (lying) and inconsiderate (chronic migraines are debilitating and life altering —faking one because it's convenient is not a good look). I don't need to take in ableism in any other way right now, so I'm DNF'ing
