I read 2 Katee Robert books back to back and I was surprised! The first one was non stop smut with a sprinkle of plot and this one had a good mix of the two!
I'm a big fan of books about Hades x Persephone, it's such a good story (or maybe I just want a dark bf but that's beside the point).
This one really captivated me! It doesn't go too deep into greek gods but I enjoyed it nonetheless, the premise was great and the smut even greater!
I mean... I wasn't sure I would like voyeurism but tbh... It was kind of hot...
Anyways~ recommend for anyone that wants a good Hades x Persephone story with a good sprinkle of bdsm smut (light).

This is one of the main series that I have seen floating around on BookTok for Katee Robert so I was excited to pick this up. This is a dark romance retelling of the story of Hades and Persephone so I was so in. Not only was the spice 5/5 but I was also invested in the plot. I loved the relationship between Hades and Persephone and found the way the author integrated the aspects of mythology really fun and different.

I thought this was okay. I enjoyed reading it for the most part. I had some issues with some of the black and white morality around

murdering a wife killing abuser

, but overall I liked it well enough. The plot is thin at times, but there’s enough there to keep the story moving. One of my least favorite things about this is that they aren’t actually gods? Just people with the “roles” - I saw someone say this is more mafia than mythology and I feel like that is an accurate assessment.

I really liked this book however the setting and the world building were hard for me to grasp.  I know that’s not a huge part of this book but the confusion took me out of the story at times.  Otherwise it was a very enjoyable read 😄

I love love love Hades!! The other characters are wonderful as well. My only issue with this book is the world building. It was rather shocking to see Greek gods have access to modern day technology and know about modern day places in America. I’d have preferred if the author had kept them in Ancient Greece or brought them fully to the modern day.

I much prefer this version of Hades and Persephone over the version in A Touch of Darkness. Unique world building, compelling plot, interesting characters, and excellent spice. I only wish there'd been a little more exposition to really establish the villain as scary and threatening. Looking forward to reading the second one!
