Um…. I don’t even know how to rate this lmao. Decisions were definitely made in this book! Some of them I liked, most of them I didn’t. I simultaneously hated and enjoyed this book? I guess I only came for the Katee Robert smut & it did deliver on that front, but everything else was…. Something.

I much prefer this version of Hades and Persephone over the version in A Touch of Darkness. Unique world building, compelling plot, interesting characters, and excellent spice. I only wish there'd been a little more exposition to really establish the villain as scary and threatening. Looking forward to reading the second one!

Kink-friendly forced proximity/fake dating plot. I was definitely entertained, though I was a bit confused about the Hades/Persephone retelling. I feel like it's actually just more like Hades/Persephone fan fiction? Because it wasn't actually based on their story. The characters in Neon Gods aren't actually gods at all. The only vaguely supernatural aspect of the story is the difficulty characters face crossing the river Styx. I'll be reading the sequels for the romance, but if you're a Greek mythology buff looking for a good retelling, I'd skip this one.

One of the best books I’ve read in recents years. The characters and plot are outstanding in this book. I fell in love reading this book and never wanted to put it down. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I will definitely be picking up the sequel.

Neon Gods had a great premise, yet I felt let down by the lack of world building. The novel felt underdeveloped in both its world snd the characters and I struggled to empathise with the characters’ emotions.
