I still don’t understand what time period this is supposed to be set in. Not sure why Hades has a security system and a cell phone. The book didn’t do a very good job of walking me through it. The sex scenes were steamy but still a bit cringey. Character development was not very good either.
It seems like Persephone and Hades mutual hate of Zeus is what made them so horny for each other, they didn’t have much alone time before they fell for each other.

I think this book could have been better with more world building and more exploration of both main characters.

I love a reimagining of Greek Mythology. This one took away their god statuses but kept them at the most powerful 13, in the city of Olympus. I love portrayals of Hades like this where he is the bad guy in everyone’s story until Persephone shows up.

I definitely would recommend A Touch of Darkness over Neon Gods.
Hades and Persephone's relationship had no growth, they immediately liked each other in the first few chapters so the entire book is pretty much just smut and no plot whatsoever. The spicey scenes were well written but the characters were flat and hardly anything actually happened in this book lol.

This had been on my TBR for a while and it did not disappoint! I love the retelling world of Olympus as a city and the gods as titles Robert creates, and I love her writerly voice - this book is so smutty, but it's also very well written. The characters have rich, inner lives, struggles beyond the romance plot, but it's also spicy every other chapter! I'll definitely be reading through the series. My only complaint is while I like both of the audiobook narrators, I hate the voice they do for the opposite lead character.
