As for the scenes, it is the very definition of "consent is sexy". It is a little heavy on the kink so maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but it is hands down the best portrayal I've seen of a healthy BDSM relationship.
Overall, probably one of my favorite smut books. Looking forward to the next one.

- Persephone is characterized as
the girl with a plan, but this is only mentioned at the beginning and amounts to nothing because she doesn't make any legitimate plans for the rest of the story . There was no internal reflection of this character change. - When Hermes declares that
half of the 13 are in support of Hades killing Zeus, there is no prior mention or foreshadowing of this change, it's abrupt and makes no sense after we've been told the opposite the entire book (that the 13 will always be in support of Zeus no matter what). - When Hades is
in Zeus' skyscraper to kill him, he suddenly recalls that when he was younger he mapped out and memorized the building, so now conveniently he knows the entire floor plan. ' - Hermes mentioning
"a son for a son for a son" and the story lingers on it for a bit, as if it might be something important, but then it's forgotten. What was the point of this?
And the rest of the book is just mediocre smut with no plot. All of this kind of made me stop taking the book seriously.
It's a pretty head-empty read that I did enjoy for the most part so long as I accept the glaring issues with it. So many moments I was confused, or a phrase would be said more than once within a few lines of each other, or Hades would open his mouth and say something super cringy and dramatic.
I can definitely see the appeal of this book for some people. If you're into smut, emotionally closed-off men, and want something lighthearted not plot-heavy, this is the right book for you.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this and it entertained me the whole way through. The spicy scenes were delicious, toe curling and definitely a big part of the book. The characters could have been a bit more like their namesakes. Hades is supposed to be a brute, the king of the underworld, a man not to be reckoned with. Although I liked him, I felt like he should have been a bit rougher, a smidge tougher, a tad more formidable. We all love a softy at the core, but his exterior didn't take much to crack. I wanted dark Hades not another Christian Grey.
I was also disappointed by the seasons. The seasons are already established in this story where traditionally, the seasons are brought about because Persephone stayed with her mother 6 months of the year, the other 6 months was with Hades. During spring and summer with her mother, the harvest was allowed to thrive. In fall and winter, Persephone was with Hades, which would cause Demeter to become depressed and things didn't grow. I loved that tale and thought it would be woven into the story but, disappointingly, it wasn't.
Overall, an enjoyable read and I'll definitely continue with the series. I'm not 100% sold on the male narrator. He needed to be more gritty. He was a bit too posh for my liking.

All the characters were very interesting and I thought the author did a good job of showing the Persephone and Hades dynamic as equal. Also I enjoyed the mention of them both being queer (although not labeled)
I actually wanted more information on the overall world, so hopefully I will learn more in the other books.
