I loved the characters and the relationship. The world set up was original, but still connected to mythology. The ending was a bit rushed/forced, but overall I really enjoyed it.

Modern retelling of Persephone and Hades however when I picked it up I had no idea it was going to be a spicy read and it is very spicy.

I'm shocked this book is among the lower rated in this series, though I suppose it is the first in the series and the most hyped. Granted, I would have been pretty confused about the larger world of the series if I'd read this first (I started with Wicked Beauty) because there was very little world building. The plot is paper thin, but that's par for the course in this series! Come in expecting smut -- and this book has the highest ratio of spicy scenes to regular book. Don't read this for the plot, though I will way I did enjoy the dynamic of Hades considering and putting Persephone first. Her well being and consent is always in the forefront (a quality of Katee Robert books I appreciate).

Anyway, turn your brain off and just enjoy the book, okay? Then go and read some of the other Dark Olympus books, too.
