The greek mythology references are pretty superficial but it's a fun smutty listen. Will listen to the whole series for sure, but it loses stars because the audiobook narrators are NOT sexy lmao. Especially the male voice when he is narrating Persephone's voice from Hades' perspective - really takes you out of the fantasy and sexiness of it all to hear some British dude pitch his voice super high in his estimation of what a woman sounds like.

I was pretty disappointed by this one. It started off with a lot of promise and a good catalyst for the rest of the book, but then the plot was just…lost. Like there’s not much that happens in the middle of the book.
I like Persephone and Hades as characters just fine. I like their love for each other. But Hades was definitely not as bad or scary as he was made out to be and the character growth was minimal for the both of them. I think the book would’ve been more interesting if Hades were to start off as a true broody asshole grump and evolved from there.
As for reading the other books in this series…we’ll see.

I liked the premise of this book, but pictured a sudo-modern world, not our current world, if that makes sense. I think some of the references that tied it to this reality could have been left out and it would have made the fantasy world much more believable.

I went into it assuming no plot so the fact that there was some was a pleasant surprise! Decent spice, cool society dynamic, I’m here for the ride - next book pls
