So many thoughts and feelings right now. The story is about young Jacques but every ready can feel Camus wrote mainly about himself here. The goosebumps I felt at the end while reading the last sentence of this unfinished story:
“…today he felt life, youth, people slipping away from him, without being able to hold on to any of them, left with the blind hope that this obscure force that for so many years had raised him above the daily routine, nourished him unstintingly, and been equal to the most difficult circumstances--that, as it had with endless generosity given him reason to live, it would also give him reason to grow old and die without rebellion”
If you don’t mind reading messy and unfinished books this one is for you to go with. Great one if you’re interested in Camus philosophy. You can really understand his thoughts.

There is a reason this book was not published before, it simply was not ready. Found in the wreckage of Camus' car, the manuscript was only half finished and contained many margin notes. I thought the story would give me insight into the mind of the writer, it did not. There is simply not enough here with which to hang a story.
