It's been a while since I've really enjoyed a book. This one did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the storyline and found myself wishing it didn't end!

A Splendid Ruin was truly fun read that teetered between 4 and 5 stars for me the whole way! For me, I landed closer to a 4 as I’m not sure how much truth there was to the historical fiction aspect of this book.

Suspenseful and original

Genuinely enjoyed this gem of a book set in one of my favorite cities during its most challenging time. The details of the historic buildings and the bustle of the city surrounding the events make this a read you won’t want to put down.

DNF. Characters were flat and uninteresting, and the story was “meh”, at best. Goldie was a manipulative, spoiled brat; and I’m not sure how May could have been any more milquetoast.

Slow start, amazing finish

I was a little unsure about this novel to start, it was a hair clunky and I was wondering what was going on... But then Oh. It really took off. And kept going! I was enraptured and couldn't put it down!

If you like a good revenge story with beautiful descriptions, this is your book.
