I ended up really liking this 5th installment of Jackson Brodie (though I can't believe he wouldn't talk to his soul mate after a 10-year gap since the events of the last book! You're running out of time, dude!). It did take a solid 37% of the book for things to get moving plot wise, and there were so many characters, though, so many readers will not tolerate that.

Impressively intertwined POV story-telling as in all of Atkinson's books - fun to read and watch things come together. But, it felt a bit light about really tragic and horrific situations. And, there were some side mentions of characters from previous books that I really didn't remember enough about for them to make sense.

Kate Atkinson’s Life after Life is one of my all-time favorites. But this one was just a mess. A hodgepodge that relied upon us caring about the characters based on previous books. Lazy.

Ahhh, Jackson Brodie, my old boyfriend of years past. The years haven’t been as kind, or maybe my memory is skewed, because he seems to suddenly love country music and abhor fat people. So, my crush is dead, but the story was still great.

This is the best Jackson Brodie book!! I would recommend reading them in order; but this one definitely ticked all of the boxes: mystery/suspense/history of the character. I got the sense that the author was saying goodbye to the main character and the series, and if that’s the case, I was quite satisfied.
