I wish I'd enjoyed this. I loved the ravens when we went to the Tower in 2018, but I didn't find his stories all that interesting, and -- I was doing the audiobook -- his accent (e.g., th --> f) drove me batty.
Very interesting and written in a friendly, open style that makes you feel like you've known Skaife for years. Lots of history and anecdotes, though at times it felt a little light on ravens and a little too much on Skaife's army background in my view (I think the chapter about the Bloodswept Lands poppy installation which was largely about the artwork and Skaife's background, with the only Raven bit being that one of them went to observe the poppies being installed I think). But an enjoyable read that I'd recommend to others - it's clear how much Skaife cares about his job, the Tower and above all, the ravens.

Loved it! Written by a man with a passion, a love of his birds, his role and his life the book shares some intimate stories about the author, his life in the military but most importantly his life as the raven master and warder in the Tower of London. Thoroughly absorbing

A quick, fun, at times moving read about what it takes to be The Ravenmaster at the Tower of London.
The author weaves the everyday, unchanging routine of caring for the birds with related stories, personal or otherwise. A recommended read to people with interest in the topic.

This was exactly the flavor of "strange corners of Britishness" that I like best.
