I really enjoyed this look behind the scenes at life in the Tower of London. I have followed Christopher Skaife on social media for a while, and enjoyed seeing the ravens when I visited last year. This book details his life and military career, what it's like living in the castle, and the ins and outs of caring for the ravens 365 days a year. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Mr. Skaife, and I think hearing the story in the author's own voice enhanced my enjoyment.

Great audiobook, wonderful read. If he writes another book I will read it!

I have been to the Tower of London. I have taken a tour with a beefeater. I have seen the ravens. I never gave a thought to who the ravenmaster was or what his job description would look like.

Thankfully, a conversation in a pub led to Skaife having a publishing deal and now I know more about what it takes to become ravenmaster, some of the perils of the job, and--best of all--a bit about the current ravens' personalities. The book gives a sense of being on an extended private tour of specific areas within the Tower of London. I read the physical book while listening to the author read the audiobook, so that may have contributed to that flight of fancy.
