Great for a drinking game: Take a shot every time "glad" is written on the page.

In general, a positive story with a sweet message. But also a product of its time in how it represents women, children, and race.

I feel like this author was trying to beat a record of how many times glad is written in a book. Pollyanna could barely last a single conversation without saying it at least a couple of times, towards the end she sounded like a broken record. Personally, I read it since I loved the Pollyanna movie when I was little and wanted to feel nostalgic. Though this story did not age well and was boring to read as an adult.
