I’m not usually one to write reviews but I feel like it’s important based on my rating. I love the author and I have read everyone one of her books. They are always well written and well researched. But I don’t think this story needed to be told. I understand that many people supported Hitler but by basing this book (mostly) from their perspective it ignored any critique of Hitler and barely touched on the Holocaust. In my opinion we don’t need to tell stories that continuously ignore the atrocities of the past. I think it would have been a much more interesting story if it was just from Nancy’s or possibly Jessica’s point of view.
Graphic: Antisemitism, War, and Suicide
Moderate: Pregnancy, Infertility, Infidelity, Sexism, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Alcoholism, Stalking, and Miscarriage
