OHHHHHHMYYYYYGAWWWWWWWD.

This is a fantastic collection of stories and, while they may not all provide closure per se, they do give us a further glimpse into the lives of the characters we loved in the Unwind series. Some of the stories seemed to be put together rather quickly -- i.e. scattered with grammatical/spelling errors, but I was willing to overlook it because of how utterly absorbing this world is. And disturbing. Have I mentioned that?

Favorite stories of the bunch-- UnStrung (duh), UnDevoured, UnConfirmed, UnTithed, Rewinds, Unknown Quantity. 6/10 in the majority for creeping me the hell out. Let's be real: they ALL creeped me out, but these were the standouts.

This book was awesome! I really like that Divan unwound his own nephew and gave Argent his face! I also like how there was many short stories in the one book. It was left on a cliff-hanger, so I think that he might be writing another book?

Overall, really good and I would recommend it to anyone who has read the complete Unwind series so far!

Since this is a collection of short stories, I will rate each story individually. I really did enjoy this book, though, and I'm sad there isn't anything else in this series for me to read.

UnSchooled
4 stars.

This was one of the shorter stories that wasn't multiple chapters long. It's about the childhood of a certain character we love to hate(though I didn't realize it was him at first) and it gives a glimpse of the days before the events in Unwind. I felt like it was interesting and well written even though it was a little too short in my opinion.

Unfinished Symphony
3 stars.

This is another short one and it's about a girl that grew up with Risa. It gives another perspective on the decision to have Risa unwound and the life of wards of the state in this world. It was alright but I felt like I didn't get enough time to get to know this character and feel sympathetic towards her, though that may be the point.

UnDevoured
4 stars.

A look into Roland's childhood, showing how he became the person he was in the Unwind Dystology. I really liked how as a reader you understand how he became that way and what his reasons were for doing certain things but you still see what he's doing is wrong.

UnClean
5 stars.

I was excited for this book because I wanted to see what happened to my favorite characters from the original series, but I actually found this story that was about brand new characters one of the best of the entire book. It shows another dark side of this fictional world and the way people fought unwinding, it was disturbing but also kind of beautiful. This one was just really well written.

UnStrung
4 stars.

I already read this one, see the review here

Unnatural Selection
4,5 stars.

Another story about entirely new characters, and again one of the best stories in this book. It gives a look into the world of the Burmese Dah Zey, and it doesn't shy away from the horrors this world would generate. I really liked reading about different parts of this world and exploring new things, even if they're terrifying.

UnConfirmed
4 stars.

This was another short one but I didn't feel like this one had to be longer. It's a conversation between Hayden and Grace, and the way these characters interact is just a joy to read.

UnTithed
3 stars.

One of the weaker stories, but still fine. It gives some insight into Miracolina's life after returning to her parents and the way she helps runaway kids.

Rewinds
3,5 stars.

This is a short story about Cam and the other Rewinds. I enjoyed a large part of it but I'm not sure how I feel about the message of this story.

Unknown Quantity
4 stars.

The last story of this book was about Argent and Divan and it was wonderfully dark. It's weird how much I was rooting for Divan during this story, considering how awful he is. I think it helps that the other people in this story were pretty awful too.

Average: 3,9 stars

UnBound is a collection of short stories in different timelines with various new and old characters in the Unwind world. There were a few that I didn't like, mainly ones that did not feature characters from the previous books since I found them boring. I didn't want to be introduced to a new character after spending the series with the ones I read and already cared for.

On the other hand, the ones that did feature the characters such as Lev, Miracolina, Hayden, Grace, Nelson, Argent, etc were my favourites as the past and future were further unravelled. Some things that were mentioned in the past but never fully expanded on for whatever reason got their chapter which allowed for the character and beforementioned event to be further fleshed out. Or, after the events of the last book we're given more explanation of the lives of the characters happening now.

UnStrung was my favourite out of the short stories which featured Lev. Then I also really enjoyed UnNatural Selection, Rewinds, and UnKnown Quantity. The ending in the last short story left me disappointed and wanting another book to expand on what was hinted at. Darn cliffhangers!

I think this was actually my favorite of the series - I loved reading the little back stories of all the characters I’ve become invested in.
