Okay this one kept me on my toes! I really enjoyed the cult theme and conflation of power and religion. I stayed nervous reading though because it seemed like people were dying left and right and the gross factor was up 10x. The big bad space general's dream sequence was fun too

Most 40K nuts kinda rag on this book. Personally? I think it’s in my top five reads of the series so far. Something very charming and adorably goofy about McNeill’s prose and plot structure. I’m a sucker for classic Sci-fi and this felt very close to some of those silly classics.

This is a great story that tell of a great betrayal.

Yet that pivitol moment is lackluster. I had hoped for more and though I feel as if the final part of the book was better than that which came before the impact was lost because of the miss.
