This was just god awful. I don’t even know why I finished this. I guess there was hope that it would get better. Talk about false hope. Every main character was boring as hell. The story was all over the place. And the romance that was supposed to be explored? Dead and nonexistent.

Interesting concept, but the love triangle was a bit forced and melodramatic. That said, I'll be reading the others in this series shortly.

Sweet, clean, and intriguing

This was an interesting and well-paced story that developed more with each turn of the page. I thought the protagonist's attraction to Callon was a little sudden and forced, and her initial rejection of Colt's affection seemed contrary to the feelings she expressed for him in the beginning, but both relationships developed nicely later. Didn't exactly end on a cliffhanger, but definitely left some great story for the sequels.

I really liked this book.
I don't know what I was expecting, but maybe that was a good thing.
But, I need more time to absorb what I've read before I give it a review.

Re-read 2020 - 4 stars

I still loved it, loved these characters but I fell in love with this book when ebooks were a new thing. This was fresh at the time. Now, I think new readers have to be down with a flip-floppy love triangle and get along with Cheyenne's immaturity but clearly I know what I’m getting with this book. The writing is generally engaging but with moments of 'too much'. My plan is to reread the first 5 books and finish the series up to book 7 this year. Let’s see how that goes...

Original reviews

This was in my top 5 reads of 2012. The characters were so intriguing and the storyline was unique in a Ebook world flooded with paranormal fiction (not that I'm complaining). I thought that Cheyenne's relationship with Colt couldn't be surpassed, then Callon comes on the scene. Couldn't wait to continue reading the series.

2016: this is about my fifth read of this book. It doesn't quite hold the same excitement when I know how the story turns out in the long run, and the fact I was disappointed in how the outcome comes about. However, the romance and fantasy of elements of this book are well written. I am not a fan of love triangles and yet I love this one. I'm going to work through this series again and then pick up the books I haven't read. I do think this book deserves higher visibility.
