And let's just take a sharp turn left here, right here, 2nd exit of this roundabout, another left and and.... Where the hell are we? Whoa, what a turn up for the books, who would have thought that! This book was a bit slow to get started but then it all revved into high gear and took off. Due to the slow start just 4 stars but the ending nearly got it to 5! Hurry up GR and allow half stars!!!

3.5 Stars. I gave it half a star more for the major plot twist that was done well. The rest...MEH. Ash had his rough edges filed off to the point I almost didn't like him anymore. Cael's portrayal became almost juvenile and too week and the whole relationship became overly syrupy-sweet, for my taste. The writing was still there but I think the author missed some opportunities to level up with this book. Ash's past, his sexuality and Cael's growth were aspects that felt glossed over, rather than explored.

Still, this has been an exceptionally entertaining series. Its been years since I've blown through a multi-book series without a break. This author's ability to inject humor into her stories in just the right balance, really elevates her story telling, as does her plotting. Though not overtly intricate, you can tell that behind the scenes a serious amount of thought went into it.

I listened to the audiobook.
Another case of It’s not you it’s me!
Last book I finally felt invested in the story and the characters - mainly Sloane and Dex. So having a story not focusing on them two didn’t work for me. It took me 3 weeks to finish the book and I usually finish a gay shifter romance in a day or two.

Another 4.5 star read for me. I love this series and we finally get Ash & Cael's story!

Initially read 8/6-8/7/2016
Listened to the audio book again 8/18/2016, I really love these books.

3.5 stars.
I liked this book, but compared to the other books in the series, this was kinda a disappointment.

I am glad I took a break in this series otherwise it would have been a 2 star. I like Ash. I really do. But I don't like spin offs especially when they are in the middle of the series. I mean you write as many books you want on as many characters you choose but just don't give me that on the middle of the series with two other great MCs. This book was totally saved by Ash and nothing else. And now I have one with Hobbs and Calvin. I mean, seriously? I want Dex and Sloane.

Ash grew on me ngl. But I'm not that investigated in Cael x Ash. I know the next book is about Calvin x Hobbs and I DO want to read about them but... I miss Dex and Sloane

I think this is my favorite one so far. I wanted Ash & Cael's POVs so bad and I wasn't disappointed. This trope, the tough guy who's had it rough all his life and thinks he's an asshole that deserves to be miserable as retribution for something in his past who meets someone who sees the good in him and falls for him... fuck I love this trope.

I'm eager to read Calvin & Hobbs book. I adore them as well.

Once again, I waited a long time to read something that was on my TBR list since forever because I feared committing to 10 books. Looks like I'll never learn. I love this series.

This series would be brilliant on Netflix
