This series would be brilliant on Netflix

3.5

Even though this isn't my favorite in the series it's a much needed break from Dex/Sloane while still progressing the overall story arc.

DID NOT FINISH

Dumping this at 50%
Cael & Ash aren't really working for me.
Too much drama with every supposed couple/love interest.
My eyes hurt with the constant rolling that they are subjected to.

Rating: 3* of five

Okay. Not a bad amount of action, some sweetly smutty "I've never done this before" sex, but blown opportunities galore. Where's Tony? What would lead him to NOT be all up in his boys' action once the major event occurs? I don't buy it. And the twist regarding the never-too-subtle mole was satisfying, but again missing a certain amount of consequence. It's revealed, the team spends a few minutes talking about it, and no one so much as even thinks of Tony, whether he knew, can we tell him, etc etc, not even his sons?

I'm back to thinking about and noticing these things, so maybe this siege of migraines is letting up. I hope so. Spent most of my day asleep, and it would be nice not to be that dragged out.

I loved that this book focused on Ash and Cael. Their relationship has been budding in the background for past four books, and it definitely deserved to be in the spotlight. It was nice to get to know Ash and Cael better, even if they tried to break my heart with the conflict surrounding their relationship. Once again, difficult issues were examined and tragic secrets came to light, all the while the Destructive Delta team must survive the targeted attacks against them.

The audiobook was performed well. Mark Westerfield does a fabulous job with the narration and did a great job with voicing Ash and Cael as well as all the other characters.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars. I loved the writing style and the plotline has gotten more intricate the further into the series we get. Ash annoyed me a couple of times with his excuses why he couldn’t be with Cael, but there was no stopping that chemistry.

I did struggle with this, but at the same time I really enjoyed it. It makes no sense, I know. I like Ash, I like Cael, but I feel like I don't know Cael. I feel like Ash gets WAY more focus. So I'm left wondering about Cael. Yes, Cael loves Ash. But I need more personality, I need to know him as more than the one everyone wants to protect from everything. It's also frustrating to see everyone baby him so much. So I wish he put a stop to it more. Yes, it's from a place of love, but it's so stifling. He does stand up for himself in a couple of spots. But it's generally only with Ash. Dex and his Dad need to hear it too. It just didn't feel like enough to me. Ash has his own set of baggage, that again, didn't feel that resolved but at least it was delved into more. His dad is a jerkface. His mother isn't much better, and I feel like she gets let of the hook a little too easily. I just need more in order to be satisfied that Ash and Cael make a good couple and better each other.

Warm fuzzies! My favorite of the series so far. Cael is my favorite. No cliffhanger, and we finally get some information on the whole conspiracy thing.
