Against the Grain is the anticipated book featuring Cael and Ash.

I adored Cael and in this book I came to admire him.

We learn so much about Cael's background, how he came to live with Tony and Dex, the amazing bond they share.

We know Dex is the protective older brother and that Tony will do anything for his sons.

In Against the Grain we see both Tony and Dex fight their instincts and let Cael stand for himself.

We learn of Cael's painful past relationships and how deeply they affected him.

We see Cael's capacity for love and how he sometimes gives too much.

It is the same with his relationship with Ash.

I was happy to see Cael take on Ash. Ash had his issues to deal with, but he hurt Cael every step of the way.

Cael knew he had to push or Ash will never let go of the past.

It was beautiful seeing Ash realize Cael is the most important person in the world for him, and to what lengths he went to protect him.

I also loved seeing Cael let go of his own demons and see himself as a strong , capable person!

Besides Ash and Cael, there is lots of action and drama and we learn things arent what they seem.

Destructive Delta once again prove their strength as they battle against an unknown enemy.

The secrets we learn, a great betrayal, Sloane and Dex's personal relationship gets more deep and permanent ! Its all made the book a great entertainer and !

Nothing is guaranteed but one thing is certain :Destructive Delta stands united against all!!

 Wow!!! A lot happened!

I really thought the Dr. would win this! And the TIN-thing?????! WOW

I did like reading about Ash and Cael, but I do prefer Dax and Sloane.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've read the first five books in this series in 3 1/2 days, they are quite short but it was still way too much. I became tired of how repetitive and slow changing they were both in the relationships and formulaic plot structure (the latter is not a bad thing but I shouldn't have binge read this series).

I was hoping that this book would have renewed my excitement for the series (I really liked book one, the other ones were nice but nothing more) because it had the couple I was most interested in (since halfway through book 2 I have Ben thinking of jumping to this book's couple but luckily I didn't end up doing so because this is a continuous series where the next book picks up immediately after the previous one.  And I think that, even if it's an overall good choice for the series as an whole it is a really terrible choice for the couples: I would have loved to see the tense/flirty moments that we saw in the previous books from the new mcs and what was behind them but alas the author chose differently. And it irked me. What we see is an almost together couple with one of them who really wants to be together while the other one also wants it to but is too scared (same as with Dex and Sloane, and the reason why I didn't like Sloane). There was no tension - just agony - and the will-they-won't-they aspect was lost.
The couple wasn't much either in my eyes.
So from my most expected book to a push-through-it book.

I liked the work plot, even if it was a tiny bit slow

4.5 stars. This was better than I was expecting it to be, honestly. I ended up really loving Ash and Cael's story. I also really liked the "big bad" in this book. The action was good. I kind of missed Dex and Sloane though even though they were a sizeable part of the book.

I was super excited to read Cael and Ash's book. I first read it when it was released last year, but I had to do a bit of a refresher for the new one!
