Started slowly, but grew on me fast. The combination of simple, old-fashioned language and the relentless stream of ideas put me in a positive, productive mood. There's a few cliches on every page, but on the other hand, maybe this book is what created some of those cliches?

(It's worth noting that this book was written with the Organization Man in mind -- most of the examples discuss employees trying to become executives or get promoted, rather than entrepreneurs or freelancers trying to create new things.)

It's also interesting to see how, in some cases, this book contradicts other self-help books. Between this and [book:The 80/20 Principle|181206], you'll get both of the central approaches of the genre.

"A wise man will be the master of his mind. A fool will be its slave"

Very good book, with practical action steps that one can take in the present moment. It's filled with anecdotes and wisdom to improve nearly every aspect of life.

For myself:
Had some really great points and tips - overall encouraging, inspiring and motivating however quite difficult to get through. There were at times too many details or stories that instead of adding to the point would just lose their purpose and not really have any effect on me. Could get quite repetitive or some points were too closely linked/similar.

I picked up this book because… it was highly recommended by my mentor.
I loved… finding out why I don’t do what is needed to be done and learning more about goals and dreams.
I disliked… nothing.
This book reminded me of… Don’t Let Anyone Steal Your Dream by Dexter Yager.
I would recommend this book to… anyone who is interested in personal development and in particular goal setting.

No mi tipo de libro. Se pueden rescatar alguna que otra cosa de él, pero la mayoría no se alinea a lo que busco.

Cool motivational book, for its genre only slightly naive. Warm and original anecdotes about people succeeding or failing in first half of 20th century.
