The thing is, he’s not wrong about a lot of the stuff he says. But he is comically sexist and old-fashioned. I don’t see that as a reason not to benefit from his suggestions.
I also think he says much of the same stuff that Brene Brown, Glennon Doyle, Liz Gilbert, and the habit book guy are all saying, just in a different way. So choose the tone you like best and go out there and succeed??

I'm usually a van of vaguely uplifting "just have a better attitude!" books, and this was no exception, but, well, I feel that life is slightly more complex than mere optimism can fix, and since the book was written in the 50s, it's SUPER genderfucked - the 3 references to women were all in the vein of 'how to be a better housewife.' Which, I get it, product of its time, but it did sour me a bit.
That said, I do have a desire to set goals and give myself some pep talks now, so... there's that. DREAM BIG.

Read a book about motivation from an "expert" on the subject. It was amusing. Think successful thoughts and you'll eventually reach that level. Just need goals to help you grow. Don't disagree with the author's importance on having goals and not leaving things in life up to luck. Just a motivational-read.
This gets three stars because I strongly believe in the power of positive thinking, however this one felt empty to me. It felt like a generic motivational speech.
Ugh. The only magic here is all the people that gave this book a good review. So painful that I couldn’t get passed 30%.
The 70 year old writing style and examples seem cute at first. Then it gets painful.
At most I would suggest reading a book summary but definitely not worth reading the whole book.

Extremely helpful in developing your character and your self-confidence. I read this book during a "low time"in my life and it was able to uplift me.
This book is One Stop Shop for Self Help! I took away countless ideas about how I can improve and help those that work with me. I’ll recommend this book to for my study group.
Change your world, change your mind. Big thinkers make big things. You don't have to be the best to know you can do it.
A friend recently recommended this book to me so I got it as an audio book. As I listened to it, it seemed familiar. Looking at the original publication date I understand why. I read it when I was in college.
