It was so much fun seeing Grayson and Jameson step into the lead. Their dual storylines offered just the right mix of mystery, emotional growth, and classic Hawthorne drama. There’s a lot going on, but Barnes keeps it moving at a solid pace, and the twists are clever without being over the top. While I did miss a bit of the tighter focus from the original trilogy, the expansion into the brothers' inner worlds was a satisfying next step.
If you loved The Inheritance Games, this is a great way to dive deeper into the lives of the boys who made the series so addictive. Smart, layered, and just enough heart to balance the games.
Another well written book in the series, very hooking and wanting you to know everything as you read, perfectly timed switches between Jameson and Grayson throughout the book keeping you on the edge throughout. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

On the whole, I enjoy the universe in which these books exist. This particular book, to me, was not as enjoyable as the others. I only liked one of the two plot lines. It does work well as a set up for the next connected series.
