"life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent."

Thanks to the Radio Times back in 2017, I was able to obtain all three of these volumes as cases from them were used to inspire and add to episodes of Season 4 of BBC's Sherlock. I've been a fan of the show since 2012.

As for the book, I enjoyed the cases but some of them were more engaging overall. For someone who wishes to read ACD's Sherlock Holmes works, these volumes are great for bitesized amount of cases rather than overwhelming yourself.

As I have read all short stories except one I will mark this as read. I am collecting all the Penguin Library editions concerning Sherlock Holmes.

3.5 stars
The stories printed in this edition seemed to be, contrary to the five orange pips and other cases, to be completely arbitrary. I would have preferred a more chronological order. I do feel that I’ve become a bit more familiar with Doyle’s writing style and the structure of these stories (which, sadly, also meant that some were a bit easier to solve. Times have changed, too: I fear that there’s nothing mysterious about the KKK anymore, Mister Holmes). The adventures and cases were highly entertaining, though, so 3.5 stars for that :).
