I loved this book. I found it both funny and touching, and I loved the werewolf aspect. I also felt very seen by Rory’s anger issues and her fight to manage them. Overall a fun read with depth.

To date, this is my favourite werewolf book of all time. Not only does it leap right into the action, it goes full throttle into the werewolf element and makes it a core part of the main character's development. And it does not shy away from the gruesome aspects of the beloved supernatural creatures.
A woman named Rory returns to her hometown to support her pregnant sister, only to be attacked and turned into a werewolf. Not only does she have to grapple with a seriously challenging situation, she has to keep her family together and decide if she is willing to open her heart to the man who is in love with her.
Rory is awesome. She's funny, adventurous, free-spirited, tough, and will do anything she can to protect her loved ones. She's far from perfect, even without the serious changes she goes through as a werewolf, and I adored her. She had great on-page chemistry with all of the supporting characters, most especially her sweet sister Scarlett, but her love interest Ian. Everyone was great, and I was truly invested in the characters.
I was equally invested in the plot, which is literally about a woman adapting to a new normal now that she has turned into a monster. And this monster is no joke. Harrison does not hold back about how dangerous and destructive a werewolf can be, and ensures that there are prices to pay for controlling it. For fans of werewolf lore, this is the book to have on your shelves.
The writing style and quick pacing charmed me and kept me reading, and I enjoyed this book so much that I'm going to read more of Harrison's work. She is a great horror author and I want to see what she does with other supernatural entities!

This was very much my thing. So many things that shouldn't work together but totally do. Genremash. Horror comedy romance! I really liked the audio version, too. The writing was funny, and the narrator nailed it. I libraried this but totally buying my own copy for my shelves. If you want light horror with a happy ending, this book might be for you. Some gnarly and icky body horror, but otherwise pretty tame! Werewolfism as a metaphor for trauma. Keep keepin' it weird, Rachel.
