This continues the mystery in Where the Blame Lies and what an insanely exciting conclusion. I really have no words to explain the magic of this book. It is so much more than a mystery novel.

It tells a story of horror, anguish and the most despicable things. It tells a story of survival, hope and love. It shows us that occasionally a demon can show moments of redemption. I need more time to do this review justice so I'm just going to say, read this book and do yourself a huge favor and read the book before it. I loved these books and highly recommend.

This has been a great story and I liked the approach that the author took for the ending. I liked the characters and the plot. It was interesting and suspenseful. However, I kind of expected more thrill and more excitement during the climax. While I really liked Reed and Liza, their relationship was a little bit underdeveloped. Maybe I could have enjoyed it a bit more but maybe my mood or circumstances haven't allowed that. Despite all my complaints, it was an enjoyable read.

What a beautiful, gutting, twisty-turning, unpredictable love story! The mystery will keep you suspended on the edge, flipping pages, and biting your nails. Oh, it plays out so brilliantly, with the perfect amount of heart-in-throat tension. A tender romance threads through the pitch dark story--dark in the way a thriller should be. The tragedy, the bittersweet justice... This book will stay with you. I highly recommend.

Detective Reed Davies is called to a local mental facility, which is the scene of a homicide where the victim's eyes have been removed and replaced with a gooey black substance. The woman who discovered the body is Dr. Elizabeth Nolan, the woman Reed knows as Liza with whom he had a one night stand weeks before. As more bodies begin to turn up in the same condition, it becomes clear that there is another serial killer operating in Cincinnati. The city is still reeling from the destruction caused by Charles Hartsman, who Reed has discovered is his biological father. Liza's safety falls to Reed who must figure out what her connection is to the killer without letting his desire for her cloud his judgement.

Where the Truth Lives is the second book in the Where duet and raises many thought provoking questions. The mystery in this story is both layered and well paced. There are multiple suspects, clues, and subplots to keep the reader interested from the beginning of the book right up to the end. While the romance between the protagonists is better than the one in [b:Where the Blame Lies|52320637|Where the Blame Lies (Where, #1)|Mia Sheridan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1566565327l/52320637._SX50_SY75_.jpg|73038439], it is still the weakest part of this book. Overall, Where the Truth Lives includes an excellent mystery with an extremely satisfying conclusion. 4 1/2 stars. Thanks again to Bree from In Love & Words for recommending this duet.

I liked how the Hartman story came full circle. Now some things from the first book make more sense. It was a really good read.
