Alexis Hall is always fabulous!
Silly smutty regency romp. Its absolutely, deliciously ridiculous. What more do you want?

3.5 stars - The majority of this book is more of a love letter to the queer community than it is either a romance novel or an adventure novel. It’s as silly a romp as you would expect from Alexis Hall. And as raunchy as you would expect, too.

it turns out there's a limit to how much witty banter even I can handle

Utterly ridiculous gay regency romp. Very silly and gloriously fun.
Do you like books that are absolutely bonkers and hilarious? That are improbable and fun? That take tropes and spin them until you don’t know which way is up?
Pick this one up for:
-Silly, fun chaos
-Regency romance
-Grumpy/sunshine to the max
-QUEER regency romance
-Aspec MC and a host of other queer characters
-Classic Alexis Hall witty banter
It’s trip, y’all. And I love that Alexis Hall just leans into the silliness of all of this, and manages to give us something that still feels sexy and fun in the midst of the hilarity that ensues.

Unexpectedly sexy!! History, sarcasm, queer, laughter and novel romance. Enjoyable!
This was a gay Regency road trip romance where one of the main characters is demisexual and the friend of the fiancée is most likely nonbinary. I didn't love the main characters but the book doesn't take itself too seriously and it was a good quick turn-off-your-brain-and-read kind of book.

Well, I love pretty much everything Alexis Hall writes, they are one my favorite authors...but, some of their books I guess I just love more than others, and this is one of those.
This book had me laughing out loud from page 1, and it never stopped. I highlighted nearly the whole thing because every sentence it seemed was either so clever and funny that I wanted to save it to read again whenever I feel sad, or it was so romantic and sweet that I wanted to save it to read again whenever I feel sad.
I loved the hero Bonny, he is a hopeless romantic, a huge flirt, and is definitely something fabulous. I equally loved the other hero, Valentine, whose point of view we have for the entire book. Valentine is a grumpy, entitled, misinformed demisexual with a secret poetic side and he is just so soft, sweet and beautiful once he lets himself open up and live up to his Bonny-given nickname of "flower".
There were some things that bothered me while I was reading this, but I think they are more personal preferences for me and don't reflect on the book. For example, Bella's character and her treatment of Valentine bothered me a lot (there is, however, eventually an explanation given for her actions that was somewhat comforting). I also didn't love that

Spoiler
Bonny hooked up with someone after he and Valentine had been spending time together for a while. It wasn't cheating because they were still sort of enemies, and it did serve the purpose of helping Valentine to recognize his feelings for Bonny and also see what he might want to do with Bonny, as well as highlighting how Bonny and Valentine are total opposites when it comes to casual sex...but it still bothered me personally
I really wanted to like this book because I do love Alexis Hall’s writing, I love the wit and the funny. But I just couldn’t get into Bonny or the dramatic sister. More than half the book I was just asking myself why didn’t Valentine just leave and go live his quiet life, alone and happy. It seemed to me he was trying to do his best and everyone around him just instantly despised and insulted him. Maybe this book is for someone else but not for me unfortunately.
