I almost DNFed this book. I’m glad I didn’t.
When I picked it up the first time, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. Pretty obviously, it’s about a couple who appears perfect on the outside/to everyone else, but has problems behind closed doors (ha see what I did there). But I def was thrown for a loop when we found out the problem. It was actually when the problem was revealed that I decided to stop reading for a bit. I watched a lot of lifetime and true crime stuff, so the story was just seeming a little too real and dark.
Overall — this was a fairly quick and easy read. Definitely dark. And I mostly enjoyed that the chapters alternated between past and present — it added some extra anticipation.

This book stressed me out from beginning to until the very end, but it was brilliantly written & addictive. I can’t think of any flaws IMO so 5 stars it is.

Ugh. Absurd. Had potential but just rung too hollow for me.
Promising first chapter although the ‘hints’ that all was not what it seemed were as subtle as a freight train. Thought that it might have been an interesting story exploring controlling relationships but it took a strong turn into psychotic early on. Character’s motivations were one dimensional and there were missed opportunities to explore these fully, resulting in unrelatable characters and nonsensical plot.
On the plus side, a very easy to read writing style means this book is a quick read.

I read this because so many people on TikTok RAVED over this book. I did not enjoy this book at all. This book seemed boring and so predictable. It was also very unbelievable. Many people complained about the ending, but the ending was okay.
