Such a good book

I loved the first book in the series. Maddie is such a spit fire. I wasn't sure what to think of the second one I mean how could it get it better than poker face but it did. Grumpy Steve is awesome. Erica was just what he needed. Through grief anger, unsure feelings, criminals getting in the way these two held on with a little help from their family. Maggie wrote this story so beautifully I honestly felt like I was with them. This group of friends are amazing. Do yourself a favor and read this series.

loved!

I canโ€™t express how much I LOVED this book. It had me in tears and laughing. This is def one book I wish I could read all over again for the first time

I can't count how many times I had to hold my breath as I read this book. It's the first book in a long time to have tears streaming down my cheeks. The way that Maggie writes grief and its manifestations is beautiful. The way the she fully conceptualizes and brings to her writing the pain of losing someone makes it feel very real. What's most impressive in the writing of this story is that it brings to light an age old question. Is it easier to lose someone suddenly or to know your time is limited? And after the question, it expertly brings an answer; neither. Loss, grief, sorrow - they don't care how many days or months you've had. And neither, for that matter, does love.

Navigating the stages of loss and the stages of love with these characters was heart wrenching and heartwarming all on the same pages.

A beautiful representation of love after loss. The struggle, the success, the guilt, the acceptance. Steve the grump stole my heart right away - heโ€™s tragic, but so lovable.

I messaged the author to say, โ€œthis is a book I would read at stoplights if I wasnโ€™t so concerned about road safety.โ€

Meant to be read in order, this is the second book in the Beaufort Poker Club series.

I absolutely loved the story between Erica and Steve. It was heart wrenching and beautiful all at once.
