3.5 stars. This is a slow burn Cinderella retelling with fae and magic and a sprinkle of a Bridgerton-esqe social season. It was just about as ridiculous as it sounds, but was still fun. Also it was free on KU so there’s that. I loved our male lead and his lack of attention to gender norms.

*2.5*-the way the author describes ember's music is SO annoying and repetitive and it was literally described every five pages (I think she wrote 'trepidation' about a thousand times). don't really care about any of the characters tbh--disappointed:(
