i think everyone should read this book. EVERYONE.
my son, isaiah, who is 12, had to read a 'realistic fiction' book for language arts, so, after some searching, we found this. we discussed the premise and then both decided to read it. i just finished it today; he's about to finish it.
to say i loved Mockingbird would be an understatement. i had A LOT OF FEELINGS reading this.
initially i worried it would be hard for me to get into the MC's voice because she has Asperger's and a very distinct voice/way of thinking. but i completely fell in love with her, and this entire book. i cried about seventy times, not even lying. IT'S NOT SENTIMENTAL OR MAUDLIN AT ALL, AND I THINK THAT'S WHY I CONNECTED SO EMOTIONALLY. IT'S SO REAL.
you know when you didn't know what book you needed until you read it? yeah. that was this for me.

Brilliant little book. So moving, through Caitlyn we see her Dad's pain, Michael's pain, even Josh's, and come to see what Asperger's is really like for someone who has it. That has been done before but rarely this well.

i don’t think this is a perfect novel, but i really loved it, it was an interesting lense on grief (which is something that i, like the main character, struggle to understand) and i also liked the supporting cast of characters

So beautiful. This book almost went on my DNF list because I didn’t like the way it was written, thinking that words were capitalized because of lack of editing. I forced myself to continue reading, and I’m glad I did.

Put together Asperger's Syndrome, fifth grade recess, and the loss of the older brother who always loved and guided her. Finding "closure" becomes a mission.

Amazing. A young girl with Asperger's, who struggles to understand emotions, has to deal with intensely emotional situations when her brother is killed. The writing is lovely and real, and the tragedy and the protagonist's condition are pitched absolutely and consistently perfectly. Recommend strongly from late elementary to adult.

Finally got a copy. Library originally lost it in transit to my branch and I had to re-request it.
