this book was so BORING but i needed to finish it for some reason. it was so angsty with the weirdest romance and terrible spice. the only character i liked was Harriet because she’s the complete opposite of Nathan and Katrina. if you like the miscommunication trope this one is for you
Plot or Character Driven:
Character
The roughest Draft, this was rough and messy. This is a story about the right person wrong time. The relationship between the characters is complicated and raw. It is told in glimpses of the past, written in a fictional story or as what is not said.
Moderate: Infidelity
being forced to go on a two month writing retreat with your former partner who you hate (love) to finish the last book you guys will ever write together?????????
honestly the infidelity/emotional cheating trope aside, i actually quite enjoyed this one and thats saying something bc i HATE that trope

This book was so... serious. I enjoyed reading it, but I didn't have fun. Hope that makes sense. I was definitely expecting something else, something more.
Some things still made me smile, though.

A cowritten book written about two well-known fictional cowriters who went from friends to enemies. The slow drag of what happened in the past pauses abruptly and throws into the present. You often wonder the what and the why behind the hostile and hateful relationship, but never fear, after pages and pages of the story, you finally gain insight. There are some memorable quotes and thoughtful placed memories strewn throughout the story. It’s a book I enjoyed and would pick up again when I have the time.

this was so well-written. it's easy to read but will throw in a metaphor that'll hit you. there was so much YEARNING (especially from nathan, so glad it was dual pov). the characters were just so human and i was giggling and kicking my feet reading.
i liked how it slowly unveiled what happened between the two, the two timelines of past/present kept me entertained :)
i was loving it until the third act break up/argument
this was basically an emily henry book....done right (i said what i said)
also the authors of this book are partners?? that is so cute
if you're wanting an emotional, heart wrenching, slow burn romance, pick this up!!!
