What. The. Effing. Eff.
Talent agent: "Well, that's quite an act, Marquis de Sade. What do you call it?"
Marquis de Sade: "The Aristocrats!"
Marquis de Sade: "The Aristocrats!"
Just slow and I have so many others I’m working on, I’ll come back to it someday.
Speechless
My reaction to this book caught between fluctuation extremes of intrigue and horror. Originally I figured how bad could it be. Things thought scandalous and vulgar 200 years ago are often seen as mundane today. Boy was I wrong. I think the modern equivalent of this tale would be to find out Jeffrey Dahmer had kept journals retelling of his exploits.

No. Just no.
I was intrigued because it was de Sade because I am open-minded and embrace alternative lifestyles and forms of sexuality. But now I know why he was and still is so controversial. This book was straight up child porn. On top of that, it documents, in detail, the abuse of children in the most horrific and depraved ways. Granted, de Sad tells you up front that's exactly what the book will be about, but I just don't understand why?
It's not even written in a compelling way. The first quarter of the book is pure exposition, documenting who all of the characters are and how they are related. When we finally get some character interaction and dialogue it's becomes completely unhinged. My first thought is that this book is some sort of satire or mockery of 'The Bible', which also has too much exposition in the beginning and gives long lists of lineages. Maybe it is, maybe it ain't. If it is, the joke isn't very funny, and if it were it would stale about a third of the way in.
If it isn't a joke/parody/satire, then I'm completely disgusted.

Uskomatonta tautologista roskaa. Kai tämä kertoo jostain historiallisesta mielenmaisemasta. Kaiken lisäksi Liken suomeksi julkaisema pikkupokkari sisältää vain teoksen itseään toistavan johdannon.
See I get the whole thing about oh it's meant to be disturbing and whatever and I gave it a shot it just makes me so uncomfortable and the writing is patchy and cuts off and jumps back in and also I don't wanna torture myself maybe you can come back if you wanna read about pedophiles having fun
