I have never read a book by Adriana Trigiani so I wanted to give it a try. I didn't even know what this book was about and I found it interesting learning about Clark Glabe, Loretta Young, and so forth. The book was too long, I found myself changing the speed to 1.5 just to get it over.

Overall, it was a good book but if her writing style is so sprawl out...I'm not sure I'll be reading anything else by her.

Maybe two stars is harsh but I just could not care less about virtually all of these characters and it just. Kept. Dragging. Like the story essentially ends halfway through and the rest is reflections on the story through time but with no discernible changes in the reflections?? Just “what if this,” “what if this same question,” “what if this still the same question.”

Trigiani is a great storyteller, but this book was SO drawn out, especially from 40-50% to the end.

I enjoyed listening to this book. Liked the memoir-y approach to Hollywood history.
Couldn't give it 5 stars because in the back of my mind I had a different view of how Gretchen / Loretta Young's daughter was conceived (google it) and that kept on popping up in my mind.
Otherwise very enjoyable listen.
