There is something genuinely old-timey beautiful about this book. Aesthetically it's right up my alley, and is very reminiscent of books from my childhood (borrowed from my grandparents house perhaps).

Unfortunately the story was a little weird. It's kind of Just So Story-esque (another book from my childhood), mostly because of its lack of a moral. It's definitely not an Aesop fable, unless the moral I'm supposed to take is don't help people stuck under logs, but also don't trust any helpful advice they might try to offer you.

Also, it was written in cursive. Beautiful, but it kind of made my eyes wig out at first.

The art in this picture book is fantastic! The story was alright, but didn't have as big an impact on me as the art.
