"As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect."

A nightmarishly absurd and symbolically rich exploration of transformation and dehumanisation, presented with ludicrous mundanity.

I'm glad I decided to revisit this. I was thinking about how we describe things so often as Kafkaesque, but I hadn't read any Kafka since high school so it was nice to revisit it as a fully formed adult. The simple nightmare that Gregor is trapped in is terrible and scary, but that is the beauty of the work. Kafka can write things that are simple and terrifying at he same time. It's a classic for a reason.

A fantastic metaphor for corporate America, the cog in the wheel, and the perception of an individual <once they can no longer perform their duties.>
