Sad and sweet, but nothing really momentous.

There is a Trisha Yearwood song, "The Song Remembers When" which this book reminds me of. This biography of Rob Sheffield (a contributing editor for Rolling Stone mainly covers his love affair with the music of the 90s and the woman he fell in love with, married, and then lost. Sad & sweet.

I liked it but wanted to like it more. Great concept

While I didn't love this book as much as I wanted to (and had a hard time identifying with a lot of the music, most of it being Before My Time), there were sections of this memoir that were stunning in their simplicity. Some sections were much more compelling and less repetitive than others, but overall I enjoyed the book -- and the fact that it takes place in Charlottesville is a fun bonus.

I started reading this book around 2015 and ran out of time on my library borrow around 30%. I didn’t really connect with it then, but I wanted to connect with it. I picked it up as an audiobook this time and ended up really enjoying it. Sometimes you have to come back to a book at another time. Glad I did with this one.
