This book felt like it was written just for me. Well, maybe not just me. It could have also been written for Rob Gordon from High Fidelity. Or maybe it could have been written BY Rob Gordon from High Fidelity?

If you ever made a mix tape or mix cd and put any thought into the collection of songs, this book will captivate you and hit you right where it hurts. You know, that part of you that’s still cool from the 90s.

One of my faves, probably because I love the nostalgia of making mix tapes and how music can capture our thoughts/feelings/emotions. It really is a beautiful story about love, loss, and the music that represented those moments for the author. It’s a quick read that has you laughing one second and crying the next. It’s a definite keeper in my library and one that I’ve even gifted to others.

Not my jam. Mainly picked it up because Harry Styles had read this.

I think a small percentage of the book was just song titles and lyrics. The author really loved Renee and it shows. Anyone would like to be remembered like this by their loved one. But I didn't want to read a book about how much he loved Renee (not love in general but being in love with Renee)

A lot of projected and remembered through songs. I don't do that so it was hard to relate. I'm not someone who has a playlist for every occasion, bond over songs with other people, so this was so not my jam. But if you live music this might appeal to you.

I'm a book for the every occasion kind of gal and this wasn't for me.

I SOBBED my way through this, and it was entirely worth every tear.

Classically sad yet funny. The story of loss and love and figuring out how to continue on when every song has memories attached.

My husband recommended this so I started reading it and got a few chapters into it when the writer mentions being on Vh1's "I love the 80s" specials before and I realized that I totally recognized him from that. Which is probably kind of sad. That being said, this is a very nice tribute to his wife and how music helped him become the person he is whether through helping him survive his youth, to helping him get the girl to helping him to get through her death. I am a total music idiot so sometimes music-heavy books get on my nerves because I have no idea who they're talking about but in this one he does a great job of being a music expert without being a music snob.

This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful books I've ever read. I need to have a physical copy for my shelves someday.

It wasn't incredibly thought-provoking or profound in any way I expected, but it was definitely something I could relate to.
