the internal scream i let out when he said “a boy and a girl, together in electric dreams” is worth another one star tbh

I really enjoyed this book. Sheffield writes about songs in a way that makes me want to listen to every single tune he mentioned. His story telling is enrapturing, and his love for Reneé  broke my heart. His writing was very enjoyable, and was anything but boring. I can’t wait to re-read this

The kind of book you plan to revisit. Also, the accompanying Spotify playlist has thirty hours of ‘90s + early 2000s bops :)

The story was very sweet, but a bit hard to get into if you aren't familiar with all of the music mentioned. If I had more time, I would probably have made playlists for each of the chapters to better appreciate them.

Sheffield's descriptions of grief broke me in half. Most of those chapters were blurry from all the tears. I loved how Rob described feeling closer to Renee at the Taco Bell than her gravesite. The end of the book made being confused through most of the musical descriptions worth it.

Love is a Mix Tape: Fast and transportive writing, unsurprisingly lyrical and written like music (duh). Kind of amazing to think love like this exists, even more so terrifying that it can be ripped away so suddenly. This book was heartbreaking but Rob Sheffield has such a beautiful and interesting way of sharing the love he lived and loss. I know nothing about 80s & 90s music but would will still read more of Rob’s books because of his writing.

Loved how emotional and true was. It was the raw emotion, especially at the end. The hole music side was great as well and I loved to have all those mixtapes (or a playlist version of them). True story about love, loss and grief. Really nice that the audio book was narrated by Rob Sheffield.
