More action oriented, this volume only suffered from naivete, typical to the Star Trek universe. The stories are entertaining, but not very believable, but if you have no problem with the disfunction of the STU you'll enjoy this volume

I probably won't remember what the stories in this volume are about a week from now, but that's fine.

"The Hero Factor" contains three different stories first published in '89-'90:

1. Captain Jean-Luc Picard is invited to the pre-death party of an alien and ends up (unfairly) accused of his murder.
2. The Enterprise comes across a seemingly abandoned ship with no life signs aboard, which turns out to be a trap for unsuspecting travelers.
3. The Enterprise rescues colonists from a hell planet that's tearing itself apart; the colonists used to suffer from an incurable disease, but they now seem healthy again, until signs appear that things aren't right with them at all.

The stories don't go into much depth (how could they? The whole volume is only 160 pages long), but they're nice and action-filled. They won't wow, but they fit in well with the rest of the Star Trek universe.

Also, there are two interviews from back in '95 with Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner, talking about their careers, Star Trek and what's next for them. While they're not spectacular in themselves, they're a lovely addition as a blast from the past.
