This is just an amazing, touching story about how it's okay to ask for help.
The way this has been approached is absolutely amazing, written to not only show that feeling this way is normal, but written to know your not a failure or useless for feeling that way.
I really respect that this book has approached a difficult situation and made it easier for children/teens to understand.
If you get one thing from this story then it's most definitely its okay not to be okay.
Oh a Cliff.. As Matty says
"Not all Humans are bad." 💔
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📖 Pre Teen/ Teen book
📖 Mental Health Rep
📖 Animal Abuse

What an amazing read!
This story is told beautifully through the eyes of an 11 year old who is battling depression. For most of the book he doesn't understand why he is feeling the way he is and battles with his emotions, trying to force them back down.
When Matt finds an abandoned dog and decides to adopt him he starts to see similarities in the way they are both feeling. The dog is scared and anxious at first and needs a lot of love and patience. This is exactly what Matt needs to help him through his difficult time. He has amazing parents and friends that are also learning how to help in the best way.
The way Kate Foster has handled this sensitive topic and made it understandable for children is incredible!

Read for PRC
Sweet, heartfelt, simple. This book looks at depression and how it can impact even someone as young as the main character (11 yr old).

The dog, Cliff, when he is found is in a very emancipated state. He is abandoned and attached to a rope in the middle of the bush and is covered in sores
