Heartwarming and funny, with a great cast of side characters.

Danny’s life is crumbling; his son, Will, hasn’t spoken since his mom (Danny’s wife died), his landlord is threatening to break his legs if he can’t pay rent and he got fired from his job. Unable to find a new job, Danny buys a panda costume and becomes a street performer.

What I liked: This book shouldn’t be funny, Danny’s story is heartbreaking as he struggles to put his life back together after his wife’s death but there is humor; in the side characters, in the incidents that Danny finds himself in.

Ivan and Krystal are the perfect side characters and I found myself wanting more scenes with them.

What didn’t work for me: I really enjoyed this one, my only complaint would be the pacing dragged a bit between Danny learning to dance and the final competition.

I also thought Danny should have called the police on his landlord.

Who should read it: fans of A Man Called Ove will see similar bits of humor in situations that shouldn’t be funny. If you’re looking for a short but touching story about family - those we are born into and those we find.

Read this book after listening to Currently Reading Podcast season 4 episode 26. Very quirky and cute! The story is so random but fun. Was a nice break in between more serious titles.

3.5 Stars - This audiobook was touching and hilarious. I was literally laughing out loud. I would have rated it higher (maybe even 5 stars?) but there was quite a bit of swearing. Otherwise, I loved this story.
