So first off: this is not a childfree memoir. While the title echoes the semi-sarcasm used by some childfree women when knocking mombies, crotch goblins, and the LifeScript™, Newman's story is actually one of delaying marriage and children to enjoy a period of travel and independence. It ends with her marrying a single dad; a quick Google search reveals she has since had at least one child of her own. But that is not to say that childfree women won't get anything out of this book. Newman isn't exactly a traditional type herself - she has "sown wild oats" in a manner expected of men but reviled in women and regrets nothing. Her escapades at exclusive parties, on adventurous treks, and roaming exotic cities are a lot of fun to hear about, especially during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic (I listened while working from home). Some reviews criticize her for naval-gazing and self-indulgently angsting about her love life, but isn't the whole point of a memoir to talk about yourself in some form or another?
I actually think I would've been so-so toward this book this if I read it. But Newman did her own audiobook narration and was very engaging.

Funny, entertaining, light. A bit crass and surfacey at times...I was hoping for a bit more depth. But I loved the travel stories and the independence of the author. I love international adventure, and it was fun to hear about her experiences. I also appreciate a story from a woman who is not solely focused on motherhood, but has other priorities and interests.
My first DNF in a very, very long time: got about 60% through before throwing in the towel.
Though married, I don’t have children (by choice), and I love to travel. My husband and I live abroad, and spend every chance we get going on a new adventure. So I thought this book was made for me. That I’d discover new foods, cultures, and sites through her that I could then go and explore. Or find new things about places I’ve been to and I love. But this is not a travel book-this is a book about a single woman’s sexual activity that happens to take place around the globe. It just got to be too much-it was boring, quite frankly, and not why I was interested in the book.
The author also seems fairly privileged, and unaware of her privilege, in addition to seemingly selfish and judgmental. Perhaps that changes by the book’s end, but I didn’t wait to find out. There are also tones of racism (some more overt than others).
Ultimately gave it two stars because there were parts I did enjoy, and I chuckled a few times.

Loved her writing style! It’s dangerous to read this book- will make you consider quitting everything and traveling the world!
