Watch Where They Hide

This is the second book in the Jordan Manning series. If you did not read the first, you'd have no problem reading this as a standalone.
Jordan Manning an investigative reporter, does it again! She solves a mystery that it seems the authorities are not giving much attention to. This mystery revolves around the disappearance of Marla Hancock, a wife fleeing from an emotionally abusive husband. Her disappearance to authorities does not seem to be foul play until her sister Shelly Biltmore doesn’t believe her sister would just vanish and eave her family and children.
I love Jordan’s desire to find the truth no matter the cost, as well as the connections she is making in this series to help her along the way as she continues to grow in her investigative methods. I believe these connections will open the door for better books in the future of this series. I also love how Jordan is gaining her reputation and getting her accolades in the industry. The endings of each book in this series leaves room for Tamron Hall to continue to develop Jordan’s character, so more content can be created for additional books in this series. Jordan’s character reminds you of a “Fixer”. She’s like the Olivia Pope of Journalism.
The writing of the series is rather slow, but the twist for this book was not predictable as I thought the last one was, so it was a much better plot and a much better read. Though it was a pretty good read, for me it seems as though this series plays out as developing the main character Jordan as a reputable investigative journalist/detective rather than a mystery book. I expect more suspense in mystery/thriller books.

This is a read that I didn’t love nor hate but was a solid read and a better read than the first in the series. I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5 star rating.

BooKIN!
She did this!
@tamronhall this was a fabulous!
I found Jordan to be a multi-layered character with traits and emotions that resonated with me and made me feel seen.

There was even one part of the book when I audibly said, “Oh, shit!”

yall, i love tamron hall so i will try to be nice. while i think this book did a good job of giving the perspective of an investigative crime journalist, i don’t think it was a good novel. it was truly all over the place and very hard to follow. little personal anecdotes about main character jordan manning were dropped in the middle of the crime and it just got really confusing. overall, the plot dragged and even when then crime was solved at the end, i was underwhelmed.

Quick read but not too much mystery involved. Agree with some others that the “romance” part is not very interesting and does not really add to the story.

Held my interest but much preferred the first book in this series. This one seemed to be checking off boxes as we went along.

I feel like the investigation piece of the story was all over the place. Her personal life was also all over the place. And the connections appeared shallow at best. Just not my favorite so won't be finishing the series.
