Throughout the entire book she talks about herself as being an odd, quirky, weird girl, but of course she's the most beautiful person ever. She knows that she's pretty and she's not ashamed of it, but she doesn't like when others mention it? I didn't like her personality, she was annoying and rude, just like the rest of her posse. They went to school dances that no one went to because they're so much better than everyone else in their school. They dye their hair and paint their nails black, and talk down on the popular kids, while being the most annoying group of friends I've ever read about.
And don't even get me started on that fuck ass tiara that she wears EVERY FUCKING DAY. I saw people on tiktok defending her stupid as tiara because it was some sort of metaphor. Yeah, I got that, it was just a really dumb fucking metaphor. I only liked a handful of characters in this book, and unfortunately for me, the one that I liked the most died at the end. Finn being in love with Autumn the entire time has got to be some sort of nostalgia for him because you cannot seriously tell me that Finn, the nice, caring, charming, varsity soccer captain with a heart of gold, would ever in a million years being in love with the terrible person that Autumn was. I agree that maybe he loved her when they were younger but during their High School years? I simply don't buy it.
I'm all for people embracing their differences and not conforming to what society wants them to be just not when Autumn does it. Autumn is rude to others, even though the book tries to make it seem like she isn't. She talks down on people who want to experience prom, even though she herself goes to fucking prom. She hates on the cheerleaders because they think that they're so much cooler than everyone else while she herself is putting herself above them and acting like she's cooler and better than them.
The entire book tries to paint Autumn as some sort of victim when she isn't. Her friends stopped talking to her and stopped including her in things we need to feel bad for her:(. Well guess what, I fucking don't. In fact, I think that they were completely justified in their decisions. Her boyfriend and best friend cheated can't you see how hard her life is? No, I can't. I don't actually understand why so many people seemed to like Autumn when her personality consists of being weird and odd and quirky and different from other people. It got tiresome around chapter 3 and I still had 86 chapters to go. She spends a great deal of time assuming what Sylvie is like, and she's completely fucking wrong, even when Finn himself tells her that Sylvie is nothing like she thinks. Sylvie on the other hand had a great reason to dislike Autumn. Her fucking boyfriend was pinning over this annoying stupid ass girl, I'd dislike her too.
Not only did Autumn talk bad about Sylvie every chance that she got, she then proceeded to help her boyfriend CHEAT ON HER. Now I love Finn, but even I cannot justify this, especially because it was with fuck ass Autumn of all people. Hanging out with him all summer and getting close is one thing, but asking him to take your virginity is an entirely different thing. Autumn doesn't feel bad about this though, and my boy Finn even tells her that if she feels bad she shouldn't, because the guilt is all his.
I need everyone to stop trying to make Autumn feel better for her terrible actions. Yes, Finn was the one dating Sylvie therefore he owed her loyalty, but that does NOT remove anything from Autumn. I don't care what anyone says, you do in fact owe the other person respect and your guilt, you owe them something. Having sex with a man that you know is in a relationship is disgusting, regardless of them telling you that they are ending said relationship soon. Finn is disgusting for cheating on Sylvie, and Autumn is disgusting for having a role in it, not very girls girls of her, but then again, we knew that already.
Save yourself the trouble and do not read this book because it will ruin your entire day, your entire week even. Not a single part of this book was enjoyable and I desperately wish that the girls on BookTok would stop recommending straight garbage.
