The relationship between Ro and Matt is so sweet. It’s built on trust through sharing each other’s trauma and being understanding of the grief each of them feels. I felt like the characters in this book developed into such emotionally mature people at the end and it was so fun to watch their journey through that!

unloved is one of those books that hits you in the gut and makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about love, loss, and healing. ro and freddy’s relationship is messy in the best way. It’s raw, it’s real, and it doesn’t try to give you the perfect love story we’re all conditioned to expect. instead, it offers something a lot more complicated and meaningful!

Ro + Freddy˖˚⊹ ꣑ৎ‎ ro is a character who feels like she’s been abandoned and is struggling with relationships with her friends and family and freddy... freddy is a complicated mess who can’t figure out how to love her in a way that doesn't tear them apart. but you can’t help but root for them. their connection is so magnetic, but it's also painful to watch. unloved isn’t just about romantic love—it’s about self-love, and how hard it can be to see your own worth when you’ve been hurt, let down, and misunderstood for so long.

plot ˖˚⊹ ꣑ৎ‎ the emotional intensity of this book is undeniable. corinne doesn’t shy away from difficult topics—trauma, healing, identity—but it never feels exploitative or heavy-handed. the characters are flawed in ways that feel real, and that’s what makes their journey so gripping. It's not a fast-paced story, but it’s not supposed to be. the slow burn of Ro and Freddy’s relationship—along with the way they each have to reckon with their pasts—keeps you hooked, even when things feel like they’re spiralling out of control. corinne's writing style is sharp and unapologetic. The pacing can be a bit slow sometimes, but I think that’s part of what makes this story feel so grounded—it’s not rushing to a tidy ending.

overall, unloved may not be the book for everyone. This isn't it if you’re looking for a light, breezy romance. but if you want something deep, emotional, and layered, then I definitely recommend reading about ro and freddy.
