This book (books?) was a pleasant surprise. And by pleasant, I mean in an intense, survivalist, wolf-fighting, and wild sort of way. My dad got me this book in 2005 when I was into reading about dogs. I read the first few pages and thought it was too much for me, but for some reason kept it for 15 years? I almost got rid of it several times, but I kept thinking people like this book and I want to know why. That’s usually the voice that keeps me from DNFing anything. But I’m glad I listened to the voice this time because it was actually really good. I could see a lot of well-written metaphors and symbolism that would be a lot of fun for some high schoolers to look at. I think of the two stories, I liked White Fang a bit more, simply because it ended a little more hopefully. But there was also a lot more dog-fights in that one and I did not enjoy that at all. But skimming through those parts worked and I still enjoyed the book as a whole. Also, how did this get made into a Disney movie?
