Keeping in mind that it's written in 1914 and there's a fair bit of troublesome content, it almost felt like 3 stories in one with a bonus temperance theme woven in. Meandered and ran around through the various plot lines, weaving back and forth through the whole book. Scandal, murder, love, drugs and drink, gambling and scheming.
