I have to admit, when I saw this being announced as Disney for Adults I was imagining a slightly different thing from what I've eventually gotten, but I'm still really enjoying it. Especially when I need a lighter series, a quicker read and something I can just read even when I'm a little tired. I was especially looking forward to this installment, since it feels like we've been building up towards this one from the very first one.

I have to admit that at times this book felt a little chaotic and all over the place, just like the second book in this series. In a way it was tying up the loose ends from the previous books quite nicely, but I also think it tried tying up a little too much, making it miss focus. And because there was so much going on, I have the feeling that Snow White and her Huntsman haven't gotten the attention and depth they could have gotten if this was more about them.

However, I was also kinda glad that we saw Aria back and that this book is also about her and the choices she made and what that did to her and why she has done all that. Although I would have loved a little more attention for Snow and her story, I think it was nice that the authors wrapped up Aria's storyline in this book and basically set the story free. It really felt like that, like the authors were using this book to set the story free.

And I can't wait to see how that will work out in future books! We've already met the stars of the upcoming novels, our mermaid and Ella, but it feels like they get a fair chance to have their own stories told, to make their own choices and to follow their own path. Since the authors are constantly adding original twists to the stories we know so well, I'm really curious how those two stories will turn out!

Probably
emmett is a walking red flag. Every time Snow and Emmett have a “sweet” moment I cringe. I did not see how she could love him and vice versa but maybe they can because they’re both problematic.

Aria is my favourite character so far because she wants to do the right thing, but can’t. It also gave me the ick that Snow immediately saw Aria as less of a sister when she found out they weren’t blood related, while Aria still saw Snow as her sister (they found out at the same time).

Authors have clearly seen Once Upon A Time and tried to use some elements and failed miserably at it. I’m all for mixing fairy tales, but not when you so very clearly don’t know the original like Rumpelstilskin. Idk what they were thinking but OUAT made it their own but still true to the original (spinning gold on the spinning wheel, he has a lot of love for his kid, he’s a villain, etc. (These are simplified versions)). It’s okay to give fairytales twists of yourself but it still needs to make sense to the original otherwise it isn’t a retelling but a “new’ story.

Jack is a hypocrite, he literally killed the evil queen, but when Aria wants to kill George (also a villain) he is suddenly gonna play the moral police. You let a problem walk around free?! I fail to see how that’s a smart thing to do, you are literally ruling a kingdom…

I have a lot more things I don’t agree with but I don’t want to continue.

This book is sold as a retelling of snow white, but it is so much more than that. There are so many teists and turns and so much content added to the story that it becomes entirely new, I would reccomend reading the earlier books in the series first as there is a lot of story and charachter crossover which would be very confusing if you hadn't read the other books.
