La prima domanda che ci si potrebbe porre è: che cos’è questo libro? Fiction? Realtà? Scienza? La risposta non è così semplice. È un mix di tutte le opzioni sopra citate e forse qualcosa in più. Se dovessi individuare qual è il filo conduttore del testo, probabilmente direi il fascino della scienza e di coloro che ne sono stati protagonisti negli ultimi secoli. Labatut sceglie infatti di raccontare alcune storie e la vita di alcuni scienziati che hanno cambiato completamente la nostra prospettiva su come leggere il mondo: dal blu di Prussia fino alla fisica quantistica. Alla fine del libro si scopre che c’è una buona dose di “romanzo” in quanto si è letto fin lì, ma questo non toglie che il grande pregio di questo libro risieda nella capacità di rendere accessibili concetti non semplici, ma estremamente fondamentali per la comprensione di ciò che accade intorno a noi, senza rinunciare alle storie delle persone, dove debolezze e genialità convivono in un binomio che appare indissolubile.

Tiresome.  Pretext got old — genius turns into madness begets genius, laced with fictionalized content of the delusions.  As it all turned to descriptions of the erextions had during said delusions — well, tell me you were written by a man without telling f me you were written by a man.  Cannot recommend.
